Sherry’s Yoga Bio

“Once in a while you get shown the light in the strangest of places if you look at it right.” (The Grateful Dead)

Sherry Sadoff Hanck, E-RYT500, Reiki Master ~ Navigating NYC and a life in the arts to living in Bucks County with a growing family, yoga became the one unchanging (yet always changing) thread in Sherry’s life.  Holding a BFA in Acting from NYU/TISCH School of the Arts and an MA in Media Studies from The New School, it is the certificate to teach Yoga that finally directed her down the path that was always there.

Starting her yoga journey at OM Yoga in NYC ~ 1999, the practice of yoga began to seep steadily into Sherry’s life and became the lens through which she viewed the world.  The experience of playing with Asana (the yoga postures) led Sherry to deepen her practice as she completed two 5-tiered courses in Shambhala [meditation] Training.  In 2011, she was trained and Certified by Liz Connor at the Prancing Peacock in Yardley, PA. Sherry has completed a 100 hour training in Anatomy & Therapeutics, as well as, a 300 hour Teacher Training through Yogadharma (Amy Cronise-Mead & Will Mead).  She has also taken workshops and classes with Rodney Yee, Seane Corn, Anodea Judith, Kevin Gardiner and Melanie Smith.

Sherry’s classes are a living, breathing example of her ongoing quest for truth.  They have dashes of humor & poetry, fun music, as well as an interest in alignment and call to curiosity.

Sherry emerged from her first yoga class confused and sore yet certain that something special had happened and knew she wanted to be part of it.  Her greatest wish is to share the magic of that feeling with as many people as possible.

Sherry’s other passion is writing.  Two of her poems were published in a book called, “The Poetry of Yoga” (11/11/11); a blog entry from this site, “Slowly Unwrapping the Gift of Pain,” was published in The Yogic Way online magazine (July 2013) and she is releasing a book of poetry due out Fall 2014.
